General objective:
Identify, quantify and parameterize the major processes governing the structure, functional biodiversity and stability of pelagic ecosystems, their responses to climate and anthropogenic forcing, their effects on biogeochemistry and marine resources, and their feedbacks to the Earth System.
Current priorities:
- Hold and publish the proceedings of the Internationally supported Symposium on Parameterization of Trophic Interactions in Ecosystem Modeling to be held in Cadiz March 2007.
- Contribute to the establishment of an End to End vision for future International Marine Ecosystem research
- Develop in conjunction with the North Atlantic Shelves, Nordic Seas and North Atlantic Systems a BASIN scale vision for end to end research.
- Contribute to the development of a proposal for Transatlantic Ecosystem Research (BASIN) for submission to the 7^th Framework program
- To foster in 2008 an Ecosystems end to end work package meeting focused on resolving rates, limits and dead ends in trophic transfer.
- To identify knowledge gaps and research priories in the study and modelling of Ecosystems end to end.
